Description:

The Department of American Studies offers undergraduates the opportunity to study American culture and society in ways that encompass the fine arts, humanities and social sciences. Students gain insights into contemporary issues that shape American society, with interdisciplinary courses that focus on topics ranging from American political life to race and ethnicity, homelessness, material culture, and social movements.

Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the program, students are prepared for careers in law, education, social service, journalism, public history, and business.
