Lecture: "Women in the Civil Rights Movement"

Jane Rhodes, dean for the study of race and ethnicity and professor and chair of American studies at Macalester College, will present a lecture titled, “Black Women, Black Power, and the Media’s Glare.” Rhodes specializes in the study of race, gender, and mass media; the black press; and media and social movements.

Sponsored by the Rooney Center for the Study of American Democracy, this lecture is part of a series examining the role of women in the civil rights movement.
