-

Location: O'Shaughnessy Hall, Room 119

Mahdi Obeidi, former head of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear centrifuge program

Obeidi’s highly acclaimed book, The Bomb in My Garden: The Secrets of Saddam’s Nuclear Mastermind (with Kurt Pitzer) details his role prior to 1991 in acquiring the means to produce the highly enriched uranium necessary to build an atomic bomb and presents his take on whether Iraq had a nuclear capability after 9/11.

Obeidi’s talk will cover topics such as the motivation behind nuclear proliferation, the means of acquiring fissile materials for making bombs, and current threats.
