Film Screening: Zuretzako

-

Location: DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, Browning Cinema

Zuretzako tells the story of the sacrifices that fathers make, and the toll it takes on their sons.

When life repeats itself, we’ll do anything to change our destiny. Joaquin only wants better for his family and will do anything for them—even if it means leaving home in the Basque Country to herd sheep in the American West. Years alone in the mountains have turned Joaquin quiet, and despite his efforts, Joaquin’s own son eventually joins him herding. Together, they must reconcile the divide that has grown between them over the years. Joaquin wants his son to have a better life, his son simply wants a relationship with his dad.

This film is based on the true story of filmmaker Javi Zubizarreta’s grandfather and stars Joaquin’s actual son and grandson. It won the 2010 Princess Grace Foundation Undergraduate Film Scholarship and the Cary Grant Award.

Director Javi Zubizarreta is scheduled to appear in person.

This is a free, but ticketed, event. Contact the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at 574.631.2800 for ticket information.
