Undergraduate Admissions and Transfer Policies
For Prospective First Year Students
Students interested in becoming a student in the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame must apply for admission to the University through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (http://admissions.nd.edu). First year students are admitted by Undergraduate Admissions to the first year class and are not required to commit to a particular college or school at the University.
Admission to the University of Notre Dame is highly competitive. Applicants are required to submit high school transcripts, standardized test scores, a list of extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement.
For Prospective Transfer Students
Students interested in transferring to the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame from another college or university must apply for admission through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (http://admissions.nd.edu). Applications from transfer students are reviewed by the deans in the Office of Undergraduate Studies.
In order to apply for admission to the College of Arts and Letters, students should possess a strong academic background and a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, the applicants' records should reflect a rigorous course selection compatible with the University of Notre Dame's requirements and the College of Arts and Letters' requirements. They must have completed two transferable math and science courses prior to their enrollment at the University.
