Xgrades

Definition

The University does not assign grades of “incomplete” to undergraduate students. An “X” grade is assigned with the approval of an assitant dean if extenuating circumstances make it impossible for a student to complete his or her work by the end of the term.

Examples of extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to, acute illness, death in the immediate family, or service to the University.

Eligibility

The student should meet with an assistant dean in the Office of Undergraduate Studies as soon as he or she becomes aware of extenuating circumstances. Students suffering from chronic illness should be in touch with an assistant dean as soon as possible.

Final Grade

The student must complete his or her work within 30 days of the following term or the “X” will be changed to a grade of “F.” If the work is completed within the designated time, the “X” grade will be changed to a letter grade by the instructor.
