Leaves of Absence

Definition

A leave of absence may be granted for personal, medical, or study purposes for no more than two semesters in a row.

Approval

A student must contact the Office for Undergraduate Studies the semester before taking a leave of absence.

Study Leave

If a student is planning to study elsewhere during his or her leave, the dean must approve the leave as a "study leave" so that credits for coursework taken may be transferable to the University.

These leaves are limited, so students should visit the Office of Undergraduate Studies to discuss their plans and to inquire about the application for study leave.
