Academic Policies
Dual Degrees
Definition
Dual degree programs allow students to receive two degrees (ex: a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Engineering). These are distinct from programs in which students receive a bachelor’s degree with two majors (ex: Bachelor of Science in Biology with a major in biology and a second major in history).
Approval
Dual degree programs require permission from the deans of both colleges. Interested Arts and Letters students should contact the Office of Undergraduate Studies.
Requirements
A minimum of 154 credit hours is required to complete a dual degree program, although the total number of hours varies by program.
The completion of additional courses - and often a fifth year of study - is generally required to finish a dual degree program.
Dual degree students in the College of Arts and Letters are required to complete all the requirements of the College, including the College Seminar required of all Arts and Letters sophomores.
