Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies
Joseph Stanfiel
Joseph Stanfiel was appointed Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in 2006. He received his bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Georgia, and his doctorate from University College London. He previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics and as Associate Director of the Notre Dame London Program. He also administered the University's study abroad program at the University of Oxford.
Administrative Responsibilities
The Assistant Dean is responsible for the advising of undergraduate students in the college at the sophomore, junior and senior levels. He serves on the Collegiate Admissions Committee and College Council. In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, he also assists in the administration of the transfer and readmissions process for the college, the handling of student dismissals and the review of special appeals.
