Associate Dean for Strategic Planning, Advancement, Infrastructure, and Special Projects
Dayle Seidenspinner-Núñez
Dayle Seidenspinner-Núñez was named Associate Dean for Strategic Planning, Advancement, Infrastructure, and Special Projects in 2004. A Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures, she joined the University of Notre Dame in 1997 and chaired the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures from 1999-2004. Professor Núñez was educated at the University of California, Berkeley, and received her Ph.D. from Stanford University. Her research area encompasses medieval Spanish literature and comparative medieval literature; more recent research approaches 14th- and 15th-century peninsular literature and culture incorporating cultural studies and feminist theory and centers on converso texts (Jewish converts to Christianity), literature and the law, and the Spanish Inquisition.

Administrative Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning
Associate Dean Núñez obtains appropriate benchmarks to implement strategic planning in Arts and Letters; reviews and follows up on annual reports with chairpersons and directors; and evaluates the progress of the College. She drafts the College's annual action items and submits a final report each year; she also compiles and updates statistics for the College. She monitors departmental CAP documents to ensure their conformity with College and University policy. She prepares the Dean's list of external reviews for department reviews. - Advancement
The Associate Dean serves as the College's liaison to the Office of Development and interfaces with development officers and regional directors. She drafts development proposals for Arts and Letters departments, programs, centers, and special projects, and compiles and monitors the College's list of funding priorities. She also works closely with the Office of Communications which provides consulting, editorial, and design services to the College. She publishes Communiqué , a quarterly online electronic newsletters, and also oversees the implementation of the ongoing College of Arts and Letters Web Page Initiative, a major restructuring of College and departmental Web pages. - Infrastructure
Núñez oversees facilities and space planning for the College. She supervises computing and information technology, representing a faculty perspective for the Arts and Letters Computing Office (ALCO), and oversees the Center for Creative Computing and the Language Resource Center. In addition, she reviews with the Director of Finance and Operations requests for new staff across the College. - Special Projects
Núñez administers special projects initiated by the Dean, the Executive Committee, or herself. Current projects include Arts and Letters women's focus groups, a review of foreign lanugages, and the Web page initiative.
