Ingeborg Bachmann exhibit to show through March 1
"Writing against War: Ingeborg Bachmann, 1926 – 1973," a traveling, multi-media exhibit featuring the theme of war in the life and works of celebrated Austrian writer Ingeborg Bachmann, will be showing on the Mezzanine Level of the Hesburgh Library from February 8 – March 1. The exhibit opened on Thursday, February 12, 2009, with a presentation on Bachmann and a reading from her works by Bachmann scholar and translator Peter Filkens, professor at Bard College.
The exhibition was organized by Anita McChesney, assistant professor of German, and is sponsored by the University of Notre Dame's Nanovic Institute for European Studies, Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, College of Arts and Letters, and Department of German and Russian Languages and Literatures. The exhibition is provided by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs in co-operation with the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York and Chicago and the Modern Austrian Literature and Culture Association.
