Exhibit Opening: "Darkness and Light: Death and Beauty in Photography"

The Snite Museum of Art announces the exhibition Darkness and Light: Death and Beauty in Photography on view from November 1 through December 20, 2009.
This exhibit of over one hundred photographic prints, selected from the Museum's permanent collection, examines various aspects of these two ideas in thought-provoking images from around the world, ranging from 1844 to the present.
An opening reception for this exhibit is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Gallery talks begin at 3pm.
This event is free and open to the public.
A full-color catalogue of all the images, plus essays by Larry Cunningham, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame and Milly and Fritz Kaeser Curator of Photography Steve Moriarty will accompany the exhibit.
